Top 10 Best & Most Unique Buildings in the World in 2014

When it comes to travel abroad, we usually give preference to the well-developed nations with all facilities to make our trip memorable. Not only it is the hotels, restaurants and nightlife, but also museums and other buildings become our point of attraction. It has always been an interesting activity for me to read about the most captivating buildings, not only in terms of their tallness but also how well they are constructed.

10. Forest Spiral,Germany

Forest Spiral is a giant residential complex of Germany. It is uniquely constructed. The best thing about this building with 105 apartments is that it is constructed in the forest pattern with an inner courtyard, an artificial lake and a big play area for the children. Thanks to designer Friedensreich Hundertwasser and architect Heinz M. Springmann who worked really hard to give Hundertwasser a remarkable look. This building has total twelve spacious floors, thus is one of the unique buildings.

9. Capital Gate,United Arab Emirates

Capital Gate is situated in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This building is certified by Guinness Book of World Records as “furthest building in the world”. Capital Gate is not only a tall building but also is leaned 18 degrees, just like Leaning Tower of Pisa.

8. Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center, Azerbaijan

Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center is the hub of offices and shopping centers in Azerbaijan. The design of this marvelous building was presented by world famous architect Zaha Hadid. It has underwent several reconstructions, and the current beautiful building is the result of modern construction styles and principles of the Möbius Strip.

7. The Crooked House, United Kingdom

The Crooked House is not known by many of us. But, in fact, this is a marvelous and one of the most amazing buildings in UK. The one end of the bar is about four feet lower than the other, this gives an appealing look to the building. The pub of the Crooked House has gotten its moniker.

6. Palace of the Parliament, Romania

Palace of the Parliament of Bucharest in Romania is a beautiful constructed building in the world. It was built during the times of the Soviet Union. Today, this Stalinist symbol is the 2nd largest administrative building in the world and 1st in Romania. The building is said to be so spacious and large that it can even been viewed from space.

5. Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval, France

Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval is situated in the southeastern France. This gorgeous building’s design was presented by Ferdinard Cheval, a postman of the town. Though Cheval was poor man, but it was due to his creative work and innovative skills that he became one of the major figures of art and literature, from Pablo Picasso to Anaïs Nin.

4. National Congress Hall, Brazil

Brasilia is a famous modern city of Brazil, having various gorgeous buildings. The National Congress Hall of Brazil is situated in this city, which is not only uniquely constructed by also is featured with sci-fi entrance ramp, skinny twin towers, and two bowl-shaped meeting halls. Its design was presented by the architect Oscar Niemeyer, and the building is the busy business center with various offices inside.

3. Antilla, India 

This building is considered the first billion-dollar building in the world. Antilla’s owner is a high-profile businessman, Mukesh Ambani. This spectacular building was constructed in 2010. Its beautiful design and marvelous architecture are certainly the reasons to make this building a worth see point of India.

2. The Torre Galatea Figueras, Spain

When I remind my visit of Torre Galatea Figueras, the first thing that comes to my mind is the egg sculptures. These giant sculptures are situated along its roofline, hitting the Salvador Dali Theater Museum. The design was presented by Dali who lived here until 1989 after his wife’s disease.

1. Habitat 67, Canada 

Habitat 67 is a strangely constructed building. We should be thankful to the architect, Moshe Safdie, who gave it a unique and eye-catching look. This building is situated in Quebec, Canada. Its construction was completed in 1967. Today, Habitat 67 has become a permanent part of Expo-67. Its modern-style apartments and private homes with advanced density are worth see. No doubt, Habitat 67 reflects the modern-style living at affordable price.
